Productions & News Stories in Times of COVID-19

As the high of the Coronavirus pandemic hit the Washington Metropolitan region in March 2020, life quickly switched to virtual interactions. Here are some of the stories I wrote and produced remotely for Montgomery College's weekly newscast "MC in Focus."

CDC Recommends Masks

April 7, 2020

The notion that face coverings could protect people from catching Coronavirus was a fairly new one. Thus, the CDC released new recommendations on how to make your own.

MC Virtual Commencement

April 14, 2020

With the end of the spring semester in sight, Montgomery College joins a number of other educational institutions in organizing a virtual commencement for its 2020 Class.

Montgomery College Nursing Students

May 4, 2020

Montgomery College nursing students make their mark helping combat COVID-19. MC's Nursing Program Chair shares the college's sentiments towards these healthcare heroes.

Appreciating Police Officers

May 12, 2020

As our newscast season came to an end, I took the opportunity to thank all those who put their lives on the line to help and protect us amidst the pandemic.

Fitness Friday
Demo Show

September 2020

This project was conceived for the Directing class, still being held remotely in the Fall of 2020. The challenge was to produce, direct, shoot and edit a demonstration show on our own. Being an exercise aficionado, I had a great time coming up with this concept and using several camera angles to illustrate the different techniques described in the video.

Mask Up
Public Service Announcement

September 2020

This video was all about using stock footage to create a topical and coherent piece, applying effective audio and transitions and end it with a call to action.

Out to the Movies
Green Screen

October 2020

For this project, I had to create a story, shoot it at home and use a green screen to master the keying technique. In order to make it a bit more entertaining, I cloned myself and this is the result.

Forging the Future Eight Oars at a Time
History Project

December 2020

The objective of this project was to repurpose archival footage of a historic event. This meant writing a script and editing the existing footage to tell the story through our lens, while staying faithful to the actual events. Being The Boys in the Boat by Daniel James Brown one of my favorite books, it was a no-brainer what to focus this history project on.
